Additive manufacturing (AM) is the term given to processes where material is built up in layers to create an object. Although the term covers an array of process, to many, AM is a collective term for 3D Printing. Technologies in AM include Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laster Sintering (SLS), Directed Energy Deposition (DED) and others.
In the local polymer industry, AM is used to prototype new products, create tooling jigs and fixtures and even produce soft tooling for injection moulding.
